Creating a Positive Environment for Academics and Hockey to Thrive

St. Mary’s Academy’s multi-option hockey program provides opportunities within a school setting for our hockey athletes to participate in skills-based training, to receive experienced coaching, and to represent their school on one of two competitive teams. The following user-pay options are available to SMA students in grades 7 through 12:

Flames Prep Hockey
Students in grades 10 to 12 who wish to play hockey at a high level may try-out for the Flames Prep Team, a sanctioned Hockey Canada Sport School Team that is also recognized by Hockey Manitoba. Participants receive on-and-off-ice skills based training. Beginning in the 2016-17 school year, the team plays in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL). The CSSHL is a Hockey Canada Sport School league where each team will host a weekend tournament with playoffs in early March in Calgary. Additionally, the Flames Prep team hosts the Female World Sport School Challenge (FWSSC) each winter/early spring. Go to the FWSSC website for more information

Head Coach is Larry Bumstead.
